NIAGARA FALLS – A Town of Niagara man is facing felony charges after he allegedly went into a Pine Avenue sandwich shop and broke a pizza warming display and a cash register with a wooden hammer just before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Duane S. Mays, 45, of Lockport Road was charged by Niagara Falls Police with second-degree criminal mischief. Damage was listed at $1,800.

According to staff and witnesses, May went into Submaster at 1801 Pine Ave. and demanded to see a man in relation to a matter involving money. May then allegedly hit the cash register with a mallet, then picked it up and threw it on the floor, causing it to break. He also pushed a pizza warmer on the counter onto the floor, causing it to break.

Town of Niagara Police located the suspect at his house and he was charged after being identified.
