NIAGARA FALLS – A Falls man said he was robbed of $5,000 in cash after shooting a rap video in a hotel in the Falls.

The 20-year-old victim told officers on Monday that two suspects that he knows only by their rap names were with him in a hotel room in the 6500 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard on Sunday night and jumped on him and began beating him and then took his money. He said the men were armed with pistols, but he never saw the guns. He also said the men are fugitives wanted for murder in Illinois. He told police the men took the money to use in their getaway, but did not take anything else from him.

Police questioned the victim’s story and asked why the victim was carrying so much cash. He said $1,000 was for the artists and $4,000 was to flash around in the video to get people’s attention.

The victim also said he had been working with the rappers for two days shooting the video. Police questioned why the victim did not contact authorities sooner if the men were fugitives. The victim said he had met the men through a contact at MTV and said, “I just wanted my money’s worth for my music video.”
