NIAGARA FALLS – A 26-year-old man told police he was hit in the head three or four times by someone with a socket wrench as he was walking along the street at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday.

The victim said he was walking to the corner of 18th Street and South Avenue when a man he knows approached him from behind and struck him three to four times on the head with a silver socket wrench. The attack led to a fight and the suspect then fled.

The victim was able to walk to a house on Whitney Avenue and call police. The victim was taken by ambulance to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center’s emergency room to be treated for a cut on the top of his head and swelling on his forehead, police said.
