LOCKPORT – Following a five month joint investigation a Lockport man was charged with importing counterfeit sports jerseys from out of the country and selling the jerseys at his Mill Street home.

According to a report released Monday, Stephen M. Penkalski, 46, was charged with two counts of third-degree trademark counterfeiting on Friday and was released without bail. He is to appear in Lockport City Court to answer the charges on a future date.

The joint investigation involved the City of Lockport Police, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office, the Niagara County Drug Task Force and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
