A garden variety DWI arrest was made late Friday after a motorist ended up in a Newstead flower bed.

Responding to a report of a crash on Moore Road at about 10:30 p.m. Friday, Erie County sheriff’s deputies found that a vehicle driven by Kevin S. Lamb, 39, who lives on the same street, went off the road, sideswiped a utility pole and ended up in a flower garden outside a home.

Lamb wasn’t injured, deputies said, but he was intoxicated: A breath test indicated a blood-alcohol content of .12. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and other, unspecified traffic violations.

Lamb’s vehicle was towed, and he was issued tickets to appear in Newstead Town Court before being released to a third party.
