An Orchard Park motorist seen heading the wrong way in traffic was charged with felony counts of driving while intoxicated, police reported.
Brian Abrams, 68, was seen shortly before midnight Friday making an improper turn from West Quaker Street onto South Buffalo Street, then driving south in the northbound lanes, police said. When an officer tried pulling over the vehicle, Abrams kept going for almost a quarter-mile before stopping, according to police.
Abrams had to be helped out of the vehicle and held up by officers, police said. After failing sobriety tests, he was arrested and taken to the police station, where a breath test registered his blood-alcohol content as .22, police said.
Abrams has two previous DWI arrests, and as a result was charged with felony counts of driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated, police said, He also was charged with possession of a controlled substance – cocaine, and numerous vehicle and traffic violations. He remained in custody pending arraignment.
