A former student in the Ken-Ton School District died Tuesday morning in a rollover car crash in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Leanne Hall, 16, was a passenger in a car that struck the median of Bayview Drive, hit a tree and came to rest on its side at about 2 a.m., according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel newspaper. Leanne had been a sophomore in Ken-Ton’s Big Picture Learning, an alternative education program, before withdrawing in February to move to Florida, according to a district official.

The driver, 20, and another passenger, 19, both Florida residents, were hospitalized; the driver was in critical condition, the report said.
