NIAGARA FALLS – City police say an arsonist is responsible for a fire that damaged a garage early Tuesday on 22nd Street.
A woman told police she saw fire in the alley in the 400 block of 22nd Street and saw a man in black meowing like a cat running northbound away from the fire at midnight on Tuesday. Both she and a her companion yelled at him and chased him down the alley. He was described as five-foot-nine inches tall with a thin build wearing black clothing and black and white Nike sneakers.
The resident said he was sleeping when neighbors awakened him saying his garage was on fire.
Fire investigators found that the fire had started at the base of the garage and also saw sticks and twigs had been started on fire.
