Niagara County sheriff’s deputies were put on alert after a 1996 GMC Sierra was reported stolen from Main Street Auto Sales in Niagara Falls. Deputies gave chase after they spotted the vehicle on Buffalo Avenue at about 11 p.m. Wednesday.
The chase continued along Williams Road in Wheatfield and Walmore Road into the Tuscorara Indian Nation reservation, ending in a back yard in the 5100 block of Walmore Road.
The driver then fled on foot. Deputies released a K-9 dog into the wooded area and a number of patrols followed into the woods, but no arrest was reported.
The ignition was found damaged and various tools were found inside the vehicle, as well as a water bottle, according to deputies.
