OLCOTT – A 55-year-old man who went to the aid of a woman at an Olcott bar ended up on the ground with a fractured cheek bone.

The Olcott victim told Niagara County sheriff’s deputies that he was talking to a woman at 2:30 a.m. Sunday in a tavern on Main Street when an unknown man grabbed the woman. When the victim intervened, he was struck by the man who hit him in the eye with a bottle. The victim was treated at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Newfane for a fractured cheek bone.

The investigation is ongoing according to deputies.
