ROYALTON – State Police said they concluded a month and a half long fraud investigation on Monday with the arrest of a Town of Lockport man who allegedly faked his identity to steal his brother’s bail money from a Town of Royalton court.

Richard J. Tomaino, 26, was charged with second-degree falsifying business records and second-degree criminal impersonation. Bail was set in the Town of Lockport at $1,000 cash or $5,000 bond. A court date was set for today in the Town of Royalton.

Tomaino’s brother was incarcerated when Tomaino took the money, said investigators.

After receiving an anonymous complaint, state police investigators said they found that Tomaino had allegedly used his brother’s identification and presented an original bail receipt to the Royalton Court to obtain the bail money that had orginally been posted by his brother.
