A 34-year-old Brockport man is in satisfactory condition in Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with the head injury he suffered when his SUV crashed on State Route 31 in the hamlet of Fancher in the Orleans County Town of Murray about 10:50 a.m. Sunday.

Erich R. Baase, who fled briefly after he lost control on a curve and his SUV went onto a drainage ditch, surrendered after hiding for about 45 minutes after the incident, the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday.

Deputies said he will face charges of unsafe speed, operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock device as court ordered and leaving the scene of an incident without reporting.
