E. David Rebmann, executive director of Orchard Park’s Youth Services, Youth Bureau and Youth Court, was named Erie County Legislature’s citizen of the month for December.
Rebmann taught school for 50 years, 41 of them with Orchard Park Central Schools teaching history. He is a Vietnam veteran, holds four college degrees, and is a Fulbright Scholar who traveled extensively in the Middle East. He is a member of the Pavilion Board and the Orchard Park Symphony board, and is a member of the Friends of the Orchard Library. He is a past vice president for the Orchard Park Historical Society.
“I am truly impressed with Dave’s years of service to his community and country. There are many individual reasons why Dave deserves to be the Citizen of the Month, his dedication to the betterment of our youth is incredibly impressive,” said Legislator John J. Mills.
At Orchard Park Middle School, riding in the elevator has become a seasoning experience.
Guidance Counselor Sarina Scaccia suggested painting the drab brown interior of the elevator. Syndi Buscaglia’s SPECTRUM class became involved and designed the walls to represent the four seasons. Each season also represented a grade level at the Middle School, with summer representing the four elementary schools.
The goal was to make riding in the elevator a more pleasant experience for students who must use it because of injury, condition or illness.
