The former Baker Road School and its surrounding property will be auctioned Jan. 25.
The school district is selling the school because the administration moved into new district offices on Southwestern Boulevard earlier this year. The town had looked into acquiring the building for a senior center, but decided not to pursue it.
The school was built in 1976, and had been used as office space in the 1980s. A section has been leased to Erie 2 Chautauqua Cattaraugus BOCES for the last 10 years.
Cash Realty and Auctions will sell the property at 10 a.m. Jan. 25 at the school, 3030 Baker Road.
The auction includes the one-story school, which is 50,752 square feet, and the surrounding 21 acres. The entire parcel is nearly 27 acres.
An open house will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 20. Bidders must show a $100,000 certified deposit check in order to receive a bidding number.
Also in town, the end may be in sight for residents of Timberlake Drive, who have had more than 25 water main breaks on their street in the last 20 years.
The Town Board awarded a contract for waterline replacement to Sergi Construction of East Aurora for $414,808, which is less than the $550,000 estimate for the work. Sergi was the lowest responsible bidder of 10 companies that bid on the job, which involves the installation of 3,772 feet of 8-inch water main between Jewett Holmwood and Briar Hill Road.
