School tax bills went out in the mail last week. While the tax levy increased 3.29 percent, the tax rates in most towns in the district went up only slightly. The exception is the tax rate for Hamburg residents, which is $31.46 per $1,000 of assessed value, up 5.64 percent, due mainly to the drop in the town’s equalization rate, according to school officials.
Residents in Aurora will pay $44.50 per $1,000 of assessed value, up 0.6 percent; Boston, $18.43 per $1,000, up 1.6 percent; Elma, $372.33 per $1,000, down 0.15 percent; Orchard Park, $32.01 per $1,000, down 0.83 percent, and West Seneca, $41 per $1,000, up 1.7 percent.
Taxes are due Oct. 15.
