TURNING TEAL – The thundering waters of Niagara Falls will shine bluish green Friday evening on behalf of the WNY Ovarian Cancer Project as it raises funds and awareness for ovarian cancer programs.

The special lighting will take place in conjunction with “Teal Niagara Falls – Teal the World,” a cocktail reception and gourmet dinner from 6 to 10 p.m. in the Top of the Falls Restaurant in Niagara Falls State Park.

WHISTLE STOP – The remaining inventory of a closed railroad hobby shop will be on sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Iron Island Museum, 998 Lovejoy St.

Offered will be Lionel items, a Bachman sign, a Holiday train set and a large quantity of other items, ranging from postcards to clothing and holiday decorations.

RENEWING TRADITION – The University at Buffalo Women’s Club will begin its 69th year with a membership luncheon Sept. 13 in the Twentieth Century Club of Buffalo, 595 Delaware Ave. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., with luncheon at noon.

Cost is $26, which includes a donation to the Grace Capen Academic Award Fund.
