TAKE A WHIFF – Registrations are needed by Aug. 8 for the Wiffalo Wiffleball Tournament for Camp Good Days and Special Times, which will be held Aug. 24 in Stiglmeier Park, off Como Park Boulevard, Cheektowaga.
Players must be 18 and over. No base-running is required. Cost is $175 per five-person team. Teams will be divided into three groups – championship, intermediate and fun. Those who register and pay by Thursday at www.wiffalo.com will get a free Wiffalo T-shirt.
HOT TIME – St. Christopher’s Parish, 2660 Niagara Falls Blvd., Town of Tonawanda, hosts its 26th annual Summerfest this weekend, with midway rides from Hammerl Amusements, skill games, games of chance, theme baskets, rummage sale items and food ranging from chowder to Krolick’s chicken. Hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Providing live music will be Route 66 on Friday evening, West of the Mark on Saturday evening and Powerhouse on Sunday afternoon. Saturday will be Kids Day. Sunday will see a 5K race and walk, plus a wine and craft beer-tasting and the drawing for a $20,000 cash prize.
SCHOOL REUNIONS – The Bennett High School Class of 1974 has multiple events planned for its upcoming reunion – an informal evening at 7:30 Aug. 8 in Ohm Ultra Lounge, 948 Main St.; a tour of the school at 1 p.m. Aug. 9; a sunset cruise on the Miss Buffalo at 8 p.m. Aug. 9, followed by an evening in Templeton Landing, 2 Templeton Terrace in Erie Basin Marina; and a choice of events Aug. 10, including the Pine Grill Reunion and Shakespeare in Delaware Park. FAMILY REUNION – The 2014 reunion of the descendants of Elder John White will be held Sunday afternoon in Celoron Park Pavilion, 21 Boulevard Ave., Celoron. Arrival at 12:30 p.m. is suggested. Lunch begins at 1. Those attending should bring a dish to pass, table service and beverages.
A business meeting after lunch will include a discussion of the future of the reunion. That will be followed by a white elephant auction.
