CUT ABOVE THE REST – What Zippo is to cigarette lighters, W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co. is to handcrafted knives. Both are headquartered in Bradford, Pa.; both have unique characteristics that make them collectible; and both have been prized by soldiers in wars. Case has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Zippo since 1993.

Founded in Little Valley in 1889, Case will celebrate its 125th anniversary Wednesday with private ceremonies and an employee appreciation program in the Zippo/Case Museum on Zippo Drive off Route 219. The Case factory is undergoing a $10 million renovation that will be completed by the end of next year.

BACKYARD BLOOMS – In celebration of this weekend’s Buffalo Garden Walk, lecturer Bonnie G. OLD WORLD TREATS – St. Stephen Serbian Orthodox Church, 177 Weber Road at Abbott Road, Lackawanna, will host SerbFest 2014 from noon to midnight Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday. Attractions include a roast lamb and pig, right off the spit, along with other dinners; a huge variety of ethnic pastries, continuous music from three Serbian orchestras; and dancing under the tent. Admission is $1 for adults over 18.

Live music, dancing, food and ethnic entertainers also will be featured at the Ukrainian Heritage Festival at noon Sunday at Ukrainian Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 200 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga. Admission is $1.

HEADLOCKS – Matches will be held outdoors, weather permitting, when Francis J. Donovan Post 1626, American Legion, 3210 Genesee St., Cheektowaga, hosts its next edition of Buffalo Championship Professional Wrestling on Saturday.

ART AL FRESCO – More than 90 artists will display their work in tents this weekend along Glen Avenue between North Cayuga Road and Mill Street, Williamsville, for the fifth annual Glen Park Art Festival.

CLASSIC IRON – The Orchard Park Lions Club will hold its 20th annual Quaker Days Car and Motorcycle Show and Cruise from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday on North Buffalo Street in the Village of Orchard Park in conjunction with the Quaker Community Days celebration, which begins Thursday.
