LOOKING BACK – In 1964, when Carol Larusch Teschemacher of the Town of Tonawanda was finishing up her senior year at Cheektowaga Central High School, she wrote this poem for the school newspaper:

Cram, cram, cram

The damn social exam –

Never pass, I know I won’t.

Don’t know nothing, I know I don’t.

Wait for a week, sitting in class,

Waiting and worrying, did I pass?

I guess I started to study too late.

What was that, teacher?

Lord almighty – I will graduate!
