LOCKING UP – A few tickets are still available for Cruisin’ at the Canal from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Lockport Locks and Erie Canal Cruises, 210 Market St. Proceeds benefit Heart of Niagara Animal Rescue.

Tickets are $35 and include a one-hour canal cruise at 6:30, followed by a light dinner buffet and entertainment by the Caribbean Extravaganza Steel Drum Band. There will be a cash bar, door prizes and auctions. Also, a signature drink, and $1 will be donated for each one sold.

HAMMER TIME – Put those old tools in your basement or garage back to work by donating them to the University Heights Tool Library and Keep WNY Beautiful.

Both organizations, which provide tools to block clubs, student groups and neighborhood organizations for community projects, will be holding a “toolraiser” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in The Foundry, 298 Northampton St.

FUN FOR ALL – Food, children’s activities and raffles will be featured as St. Francis of Assisi Parish, 73 Adam St., City of Tonawanda, hosts its annual Family Fun Fest from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday.

Picnic food, including chowder, pulled pork, hot dogs, hamburgers, Italian sausage and grilled shrimp, will be available all day. There will be games for all ages, a bounce house, a garden booth and a baked goods sale. Music will be provided by Slim Chance.

Drawings for the theme tray raffle at 7:15 p.m. will follow drawings for the Super Raffle at 7, where prizes include a 50-inch TV, personal watercraft rentals, $250 cash and seven other prizes.

HERE’S THE BEEF – The men’s and women’s auxiliaries of Col. John B. Weber Post 898, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will hold a meat raffle Saturday evening in the post at 2909 South Park Ave., Lackawanna.

Doors open at 6. Drawings start at 7. Admission is $5 and includes a sandwich, snacks, beer and pop. There also will be a split club drawing and a gas grill raffle.

EATING AROUND – Trinity Old Lutheran Church, 3445 Sheridan Drive near Sweet Home Road, Amherst, will host a BW’s fish dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. today. Dinners are $11, including beverage and dessert. A chicken finger dinner also is available for $6.50. In addition, the church Youth Ministry Team will sponsor a theme basket raffle.

Payne Avenue Christian Church, 1459 Payne Ave., North Tonawanda, will have a strawberry social from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $5 and include a hot dog, chips, beverage and homemade strawberry shortcake. Fresh strawberries also will be available for purchase.

University United Methodist Church, 410 Minnesota Ave. at Bailey Avenue, will host a salad bar luncheon and silent auction from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, with lunch served at noon. Donation is $7.

The Sons of the American Legion will hold a pig roast from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday in Alfred J. Jurek Post 1672, American Legion, 655 New Road, East Amherst. Tickets are $12 and include potato, beans, coleslaw and beverages.

Church of the Holy Community, Route 5 and Old Lake Shore Road, Lake View, will sponsor a BW’s chicken and ribs barbecue from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. Dinners are $12 adults, $5 children under 12, and include chicken, ribs, macaroni salad, baked beans, watermelon and a beverage. There will be a baked goods sale and theme basket auction.

Grace Lutheran Church, 174 Cazenovia St., South Buffalo, will host a Chiavetta’s chicken dinner from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $9 advance, $9.50 at the door. For tickets and info, call 822-0533.
