GREEN THUMBS – The Master Gardeners of Erie County have gone into their own gardens to provide a huge selection of sun- and shade-loving perennials, native plants and more for their annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 1071 Amherst St.

Plant expert Sally Cunningham, whose column appears every Friday in The Buffalo News, will be on hand to answer gardening questions from 10 a.m. to noon Friday.

SAVORY SAMPLING – Schwan’s, which provides home food deliveries, and Tastefully Simple, the home tasting company that features uncomplicated recipes, will team up to offer samples and take orders from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3512 Clinton St., West Seneca.

A percentage of the Schwan’s sales will benefit the free community dinner held at the church on the last Friday of each month. Also based on sales, Tastefully Simple will provide free products to the church’s Zumba Committee to create baskets for its fundraising raffle in October.

TIME OF NEED – A week after his granddaughter was born in April, John Reynolds was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, which had spread to his lungs and liver.

To help pay for his medical expenses, friends and family are holding a benefit from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Elks Lodge, 6791 North Canal Road, Lockport.

Epiphany of Our Lord Church will hold its Mission Yard Sale in the parish hall, 10893 Sisson Highway (Route 75), Langford, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

There will be clothing, books, toys, games, furniture, jewelry and more. Lunch will be available.

COPING WITH TOURETTE’S – The president and founder of the Tourette’s Syndrome Association of Greater New York State, Susan Conners of Snyder, will be the next speaker in the Dialogues on disABILITY Speaker Series at 7 p.m. Friday in the Museum of disABILITY History, 3826 Main St., Snyder.

In her presentation, “Tourette’s Syndrome – What Makes Us Tic?,” she will talk about diagnosis, common neurological disorders and strategies for working with people with Tourette’s.
