STAMPS OF APPROVAL – The New York World’s Fairs of 1939 and 1964 will be the theme when the Buffalo Stamp Club hosts the area’s oldest and largest stamp show Saturday and Sunday in Pvt. Leonard Post Jr. Post 6251, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 2450 Walden Ave., Cheektowaga.

The show, BUFPEX 2014, will feature 15 dealers with a variety of stamps and other items, as well as a U.S. Postal Service booth with recent stamps for sale.

Club members will have exhibits from their collections. Youngsters can get free stamps in the Children’s Corner. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission and parking are free.

LOCAL TREATS – Taste Niagara 2014, featuring local foods and beverages, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute, 28 Old Falls St.

There will be numerous food stations, a complimentary glass of wine, hard cider or beer, a food demonstration, music by Justine Mercurio and tours of the facility, which is home to Niagara County Community College’s Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry Arts program. There also will be a cash bar.

Hosts are the Niagara County Farm Bureau and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County. Tickets are $30.
