OLAF FUB SEZ: A Valentine’s Day thought from comedian Jack Benny, born Benjamin Kubelsky on this date in 1894, “My wife, Mary, and I have been married for 47 years and not once have we had an argument serious enough to consider divorce; murder, yes, but divorce, never.”
Into the trunk, I dig deeply,
Finding memories of Valentines past:
Whatever happened to homemade lace-covered cards?
Shy girl smiles and sly boy winks.
The swish of silk underneath a skirt.
Pigtails pulled with a kiss on the run.
Carrying her books and holding hands.
Bobby socks, penny loafers and scuffed saddle shoes.
He loves me ... he loves me not.
Daisies know and daisies will tell, as the petals
Fall softly one by one,
Dusting the trunk for another year.
