URGE FOR GOING – The last installment in this year’s four-part AAA Western and Central New York travel series for active seniors will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Theatre Room at Asbury Pointe Retirement Community, 50 Stahl Road off North Forest Road, Getzville.

FIGHTING BACK – Raising awareness and funds for a cure is the area’s first Pheo/Para 5K Run/Walk at 10 a.m. Saturday from the Wings Pavilion, 3964 California Road, Orchard Park. Entries are $25, $15 for students, with awards in all age groups. Runners are asked to wear camouflage attire.

Proceeds will help fight genetic pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma, two rare cancers that affect three Southtowns families and require constant screening and surgery for tumors.

NATURAL FUN – Asha Sanctuary, a refuge for abused and neglected animals, will benefit from a Country Jamboree at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Cornell Cooperative Extension, 4487 Lake Ave., Lockport.

The Ghost Riders and the Honey Badgers will perform. Speakers will include Dr. Thomas Campbell, co-author of the best-selling “The China Study”; Melanie Joy, author of “Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs and Wear Cows”; and dietitian George Eisman, author of “The Most Noble Diet: Don’t Let Your Diet Add to Your Cancer Risk.”

ONE IF BY LAND – It’s a Revolutionary War weekend at the Hull Family Home and Farmstead, 5976 Genesee St., at Pavement Road, Lancaster. Re-enactors will portray soldiers from opposing sides – Brant’s Rangers, who were British Loyalists, and Hoisington’s Rangers, a New York militia.

There will be musket demonstrations, battle drills, a court-martial and a battle at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Kids can sign up and participate in the drills.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for students ages 10 to 18. Kids under 10 are free.
