Thelma L. Ker, of the Town of Tonawanda, a retired staff member in the Grand Island schools, died Friday after an extended illness. She was 91.
Born Thelma Gastineau on a farm in Indiana, she grew up in Indianapolis and moved to Buffalo with her husband in 1948.
She retired from the Grand Island schools in 1984.
Skilled with numbers, Mrs. Ker usually offered to serve as treasurer in the organizations she joined.
An avid card player all of her life, she was a life master at duplicate bridge and taught her children and grandchildren to love card-playing.
She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Alan W.; a daughter, Karen Day; and a son, Alan S.
A celebration of her life will be from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Wedekindt Funeral Home, 3290 Delaware Ave., Town of Tonawanda.
