Robert J. Crittenden, a retired U.S. Postal Service employee, died Wednesday in his Buffalo home. He was 47.
A corporal in the Marines, Mr. Crittenden worked as an administrative clerk in the offices of the commanding general of Fleet Marine Force Atlantic in Norfolk, Va. The highlight of his six years of military service was his embassy duty in London, according to his family.
He was the son of William A. and JoAnn M. Crittenden, both deceased.
The Buffalo native graduated from Cardinal O’Hara High School in the Town of Tonawanda.
“Bob followed in his dad’s boot steps to become a Parris Island Marine,” said his sister Rosemary.
After Mr. Crittenden’s military service, he worked at the Main Post Office on William Street until his disability retirement in December 2011.
He is survived by another sister, Paula Newton; and a brother, William.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. Thursday in Roberts Funeral Home, 280 Grover Cleveland Highway, Amherst, followed by prayers.
