Richard Lee King, a former singer and guitarist and retired tool and die maker at American Optical, died Wednesday under the care of Niagara Hospice. He was 77.
Born in Buffalo, Mr. King served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves.
He retired from American Optical in 1999 after 37 years of employment.
Mr. King was the vice president of United Glass Workers of America Union for 17 years.
He sang and played guitar with the Country Gentlemen, which later became the Country Development.
He also enjoyed playing golf and bowling.
He is survived by his wife, the former Vicky Peabody; three sons, Michael, Ronald and Rick; two daughters, Lisa and Leigh Ann; a stepdaughter, Rebekah; a sister, Carole Anterline; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Christ Episcopal Church, 7145 Fieldcrest Drive, Lockport.
