Thomas Richard LaCongo, formerly of Cheektowaga, died Sept. 18 in Winter Park, Fla., following a long battle with cancer. He was 66.
He attended Cleveland Hill High School and finished high school at Grover Cleveland in Buffalo.
Mr. LaCongo moved to Central Florida in 1972 where, as a construction apprentice, he worked on several projects in the early development of Walt Disney World and later established his own construction business.
He enjoyed motorcycles, and was a talented guitarist who performed regularly with his group, Just Us, in Orlando-area clubs and for charitable events.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Debbie; a daughter, Shannon Witherspoon; two brothers, Leonard and Daniel; and six sisters, Sylvia Zach, Kathleen Kennedy, Mary Jean Petti, Lorrene Cain, Francine Fabozzi and Denise LaCongo.
A memorial Mass will be offered 10 a.m. Oct. 19 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, Seneca Street at Rice Road, Spring Brook.
