Peter Albert Witt, of Wales Center, a retired nurse’s aide and security guard, died Friday in Hospice Buffalo, Cheektowaga, after a battle with cancer. He was 68.
Born in Cleveland, he was a standout wrestler at Benedictine High School. He attended Ohio University on a wrestling scholarship and earned a degree in journalism.
After college, he became a Marine Corps aviator and flew missions as a pilot in the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of captain.
Mr. Witt came to the Buffalo area about 25 years ago and worked as a nurse’s aide at Erie County Medical Center.
After he retired, he became a security guard with U.S. Security Associates and worked at Our Lady of Victory Basilica and at Sabres games and concerts in First Niagara Center.
He flew small airplanes and did aerial photography of landmarks and businesses.
A memorial gathering will be at 4 p.m. Friday in the Wales Center Hotel, 12243 Big Tree Road, Wales Center.
