Martha H. Peck, an executive secretary whose father founded Hunt Real Estate, died Sept. 6 in the skilled nursing unit of Fox Run, Orchard Park, after a long illness. She was 87.
Born in Buffalo, the former Martha Hunt was a 1944 graduate of Bennett High School. She attended Mount Vernon College in Washington, D.C., then graduated from the Katherine Gibbs School, an elite secretarial school in Boston, Mass.
Mrs. Peck began her secretarial career at the Harvard Business School, then moved to New York City, where she worked in the office of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and was secretary for the personnel department at Life magazine.
She returned to the Buffalo area in 1976 and worked in the Orchard Park office of Hunt Real Estate from 1980 until she retired in 1995.
A member of Central Park Methodist Church in Buffalo as a girl, she later was a member of Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. She was an active member of the Orchard Park Garden Club and an avid bridge player. She toured around the world with her husband, a travel writer.
Her husband of 55 years, Ralph H., died in 2009. Her twin brother, Myron M. Hunt, died July 30.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 4 in Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 4369 S. Buffalo St., Orchard Park.
