Harold J. “Butch” Baumann, of Kenmore, a retired Buffalo teacher, died Thursday in Beechwood Continuing Care, Getzville. He was 75.
Born in New York City, he was the first student from Regis High School, a Jesuit preparatory high school in Manhattan, to attend Canisius College.
After college, he worked in the credit department at Sears, then decided to pursue a career in teaching. He was a teacher and attendance officer with the Buffalo school system for 30 years.
In retirement, he worked part time as a starter at the Brighton Golf Course.
He was a member of the School Masters Association and the Tuesday Morning Retired Attendance Teachers Breakfast Club.
A parishioner at St. Paul Catholic Church in Kenmore, he was a member of its Holy Name Society.
He was an avid reader.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, the former Barbara A. Starck; three sons, H. Joseph, Michael and Gary; two daughters, Deborah Zwez and Donna Nicholas; a brother, Raymond; and a sister, Dolores Schurr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:15 a.m. today in St. Paul’s Church, 33 Victoria Blvd., Kenmore.
