Gloria Janet Mulloy, a retired pharmacist, died Saturday in her Eggertsville home. She was 86.
She was born in Jamestown, and graduated from Jamestown High School with a full scholarship to attend the University of Buffalo Pharmacy School. She was one of eight women in the class of 1949.
Mrs. Mulloy met her husband, Francis J. Mulloy, in pharmacy school and they operated the family-owned Mulloy’s Pharmacy, an East Side landmark at Leroy and Grider streets, until 1972. She later worked at Allen-Mack Pharmacy in North Tonawanda, and Rite-Aid in Amherst, until her retirement in the late 1980s.
Mrs. Mulloy was past president of the University of Buffalo Pharmacy Alumni Assocation, and served as a mentor to pharmacy students. She was also a longtime member of the Rosary & Altar Society and St. Benedict’s Church in Eggertsville.
Her husband of 45 years, Francis, died in 1997.
Survivors include four daughters, Nancy Bonn, Betsy Murphy, Kathryn Carmichael, and Mary Kiener; five granddaughters; and two grandsons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 4375 Harris Hill Road, Amherst.
