Frank C. Raimondo, a retired bank branch manager and World War II veteran, died Tuesday in Elderwood at Grand Island after a short illness. He was 92.
Mr. Raimondo graduated from Grover Cleveland High School and studied at Millard Fillmore College at the University at Buffalo.
Born in Buffalo, he worked for more than 20 years with the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Federal Housing Administration as a property inspector and reviewer of mortgage application documents.
He then worked for 13 years for Permanent Savings Bank as an assistant manager of the mortgage division, retiring as a branch manager in 1979.
Mr. Raimondo worked part time in retirement as a real estate agent.
During the war, he served in the Army Air Forces as a staff sergeant, 34th Air Service Squadron, and had been based in Puerto Rico.
Mr. Raimondo was a member of the Amherst Chamber of Commerce and Lions Club of Williamsville. He served as president of the Savings & Loan Association Society and was a volunteer at Brothers of Mercy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
His wife of more than 60 years, the former Josephine Morra, died in 2006.
Survivors include four sons, Charles, Michael, Paul and John; a sister, Grace; and a brother, Samuel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 5480 Main St., Williamsville.
