Dr. Constante Firme Sr., a retired Buffalo physician, died Nov. 24 in Upland, Calif. He was 87.
Dr. Firme was born in the Philippines. He lived in Buffalo from 1953 to 1960 and was affiliated with Buffalo General Medical Center.
He was an officer in the International College of Surgeons, Philippines Section, as well as many other surgery-related organizations. He was a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, and a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. His published work included an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 1959.
Survivors include his wife, Azucena; three sons, Constante Jr., David and Steve; and three daughters, Ida Vargas, Cynthia Alberto and Sharon Firme.
A memorial service will be held later.
