Douglas F. Diez, a longtime supervisor at Harrison Radiator Corp., died Saturday in Niagara Hospice House after a long illness. He was 68.
Mr. Diez was born in Niagara Falls. After landing a job one year out of high school, he spent 37 years with Harrison Radiator, a division of General Motors, and was named a top-10 supervisor three times.
Mr. Diez graduated from Niagara County Community College in 1996 with an associate degree in business management.
After retiring in 2001, the Lewiston-Porter High School alumnus drove a school bus in his hometown of Ransomville for 11 years. In 2007, the Chamber of Commerce named Mr. Diez the Town of Porter Citizen of the Year.
Mr. Diez was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown and spent 23 years as a certified lay leader at Ransomville United Methodist Church.
He was also involved in Alpha Beta Gamma, an international business honor society; the Ransomville Free Library; the Ransomville Business Association; the Ransomville Cruisers Car Club; and the Lewiston-Porter Alumni Association.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, the former Connie Campbell; a daughter, Suzanne Cassick; two sons, Douglas Stuart and Jeremy; three sisters, Shirley Woolard, Sandra Guzewich and Sue Diez; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 100 Church St.
