Daniel P. Gajewski, a principal in strategy and analysis at a private investment firm, died Tuesday in Crossroads House, Batavia, after a battle with lung and prostate cancer. He was 57.
Born in Buffalo, Mr. Gajewski grew up in Alden and graduated from Alden High School in 1974.
He received an associate’s degree from Morrisville State College and a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, where he played goalie for the school’s hockey team. He received an MBA from the University at Buffalo.
He moved to North Carolina, where he worked in business intelligence for several banks, including SunTrust and Bank of America. But he returned to the area when he was diagnosed with cancer to live with his sister in Oakfield. Most recently he worked from home for the private investment firm Chapel Hill Carrboro Corp., according to his online resume on LinkedIn.
He was a member of Harmonie Lodge 699, F&AM, and president of the Central New York chapter of Cornell University alumni.
His marriage to Colleen Glair ended in divorce.
Survivors include a son, Daniel; his father, also named Daniel; his mother, Carolyn; two sisters, Debra A. Hendershott and Mary Alice Torba; and a brother, Robert.
A service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Charles Meyer Funeral Home, 13228 Broadway, Alden.
