NORTH TONAWANDA – The fourth annual Hooked on the Tonawandas Fishing Tournament in June in Gateway Harbor raised $3,500 for two area charities, event officials said.
Twin Cities Community Outreach, which houses food pantry, clothes closest and meals on wheels programs, received $2,500. The Gastown Sportsmen’s Club will receive $1,000 and designate the funds to a charity that provides outdoor and fishing opportunities to children in Western New York.
The tournament attracted 156 adult and 38 children anglers who fished over two days during the state Department of Environmental Conservation’s Free Fishing Weekend. Cash prizes were awarded for the largest three fish caught in each of six species.
