NORTH TONAWANDA – The 2014 Summer Reading Club will explore science in “Fizz, Boom, Read” on June 30 to Aug. 23 at the North Tonawanda Library, 505 Meadow Drive. The free program is open to children from nine months to grade 9, who are residentss of North Tonawanda, Wheatfield or Pendleton.

All children will be registered for a raffle and prizes. Club members will also receive one free paperback and a Wendy’s Frosty after reading one book.

Special celebrations include Trucks, Trucks. Trucks on July 9, which will include visits from fire trucks, police cars and large trucks from the Department of Public Work and on July 30 from 1 to 5 p.m. there will be a science and collections fair with a chance to show off nature collections and experiments.

Throughout the summer will be contests, guest speakers and movies.

The final Fizz, Boom, Read Extravaganza will be a hot dog picnic and a magic show at 5 p.m. Aug. 7 with an ice cream social under the stars from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.

Registration begins on June 30 and continues through Aug. 16. At least one family member needs a North Tonawanda library card to join.
