NORTH TONAWANDA – Richard L. Tindell, who was chosen two years ago to head both the City of North Tonawanda’s development department and the Lumber City Development Corp., will retire June 14, according to a statement issued by the city on Thursday.

Tindell was appointed in August 2012, replacing longtime head Jim Sullivan, who brought in millions to the city, largely through state and federal grants.

Most recently, under Tindell, the Lumber City Development Corp. offered Oliver Street businesses grants between $5,000 to $35,000 as part of a $165,000 microenterprise grant from the New York State Office of Community Renewal.
