LOCKPORT – Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas on Wednesday postponed the manslaughter trial of Jennifer Marchant until Jan. 6.

The trial was to have begun Nov. 18, but Farkas said she needed to travel to take care of some family health matters and would not be available.

Marchant, 24, of North Tonawanda, is claiming self-defense in the Feb. 6 stabbing death of her live-in boyfriend, Ralph D. Stone Jr., in their Oliver Street apartment. Marchant formerly performed in Internet pornography under the name of “Scarlett Rouge.”

The postponement also impacts the trial of Timothy DePetris, the Niagara Falls businessman charged with shooting his brother-in-law and then trying to hire a hitman to kill him. He had been assigned the Jan. 6 trial date, but the DePetris trial now is off until Feb. 3.
