NORTH TONAWANDA – The North Tonawanda History Museum, 54 Webster St., will offer reduced admission today in recognition of the 188th anniversary of the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, and admission will be reduced from $5 to $3, with $1 admission for senior citizens.

Two mini lectures will be offered, discussing the importance of the Erie Canal to the Tonawandas and what would have happened if the Erie Canal had not come through the region.

The Erie Canal Exhibit hall offers an 1895 diorama, which is under development, and descriptions of the display will be available.
