A two-alarm fire in a large vacant two-story brick warehouse at 1950 Elmwood Ave. was declared under control at 2:17 this afternoon, fire officials said.

Fire Commissioner Garnell W. Whitfield Jr. said there were no injuries and that arson may have caused the fire, which started shortly before 2 p.m.

“It’s a vacant building, so obviously the cause is suspicious,” Whitfield said, adding that several years ago there was a fire in a rear section of the building, which was demolished a few months ago.

A damage estimate has not yet been set.
