NIAGARA FALLS – Police responding to a burglary in progress at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday at a gas station in the 8600 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard arrested two men at the scene.

Jason Laufenberg, 39, of Niagara Falls Boulevard, was charged with attempted third-degree burglary and restricted use of alcohol in a public place, after Laufenberg was found intoxicated and carrying an open can of beer, police said. Robert D. Oyer, 54, of a different apartment in the same Niagara Falls Boulevard address, was charged with attempted third-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Officers found a large screwdriver in Oyer’s pocket and a lock picking kit. The lock near where the two men were standing appeared to have tool marks from the lock pick kit, according to police.
