NIAGARA FALLS – The third of three suspects who assaulted clerks and robbed a Pine Avenue pawn shop Monday afternoon still was being sought Tuesday night by Niagara Falls Police.
Arrested after brief foot chases when police responded to the call for help from the operators of the Casino Buy and Sell store at 2001 Pine about 3:15 p.m. Monday were Edwin Keith Ridgeway, 26, of East Avenue, Lockport, and Robert James Thornton, 24, of Cleveland Avenue, Niagara Falls.
Ridgeway was captured by Officers David Wyluki, Josh Miller and Joseph Scabilia in the 1800 block of Willow Avenue. Thornton was caught in the 1800 block of Pierce Avenue by Lt. Michael Corcoran and Officer Todd Faddoul. Property stolen from the pawn shop and two BB guns used in the stickup were recovered with the two arrests. Both are being held on charges of first-degree robbery, third-degree grand larceny, third-degree assault and resisting arrest.
Police still were trying to identify and find the third suspect, who reportedly wielded a machete during the robbery. Anyone with information is asked to contact Niagara Falls Police at 286-4547.
