NIAGARA FALLS - City officials will hold a public information meeting Tuesday to discuss improvements being considered for Jayne Park on Cayuga Island.

The meeting, to be conducted by the city’s Office of Planning and the Department of Public Works and Parks, will be held at 5:30 p.m. in a picnic shelter on the east end of the park. In case of rain, the meeting will be held in the auditorium of LaSalle Library, 8728 Buffalo Ave.

Suggested proposals for the park include walking paths, a waterside overlook, playground and picnic equipment, shoreline restoration, tree and landscape plantings, underbrush and dead tree removal and habitat restoration. The city, in a news release announcing the meeting, said it is not considering new parking, a canoe launch or the removal of the sledding hill.

The city has received a $290,000 grant for park work, which must be expended by the end of the year.
