LOCKPORT – One Niagara Falls man was sentenced to a year in jail Monday, while his co-defendant pleaded guilty in connection with an Oct. 7 attempt to burglarize an apartment on Lincoln Place in the Falls.

Kyle D. Sullivan, 24, of Linwood Avenue, was sentenced by County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas to a year in the Niagara County Jail for attempted third-degree burglary.

Robert L. Shimmel, 33, of South Avenue, pleaded guilty to the same charge. Farkas said she was leaning toward sending him to the state prison system’s secure drug treatment facility when Shimmel returns to court Aug. 6.
