NIAGARA FALLS – Niagara University president Rev. James J. Maher will accept an award for the university from the Niagara Catholic High School board of trustees at the school’s annual baccalaurate Mass tonight.

The Mass, to be celebrated by Maher, will be held at 6 p.m. in the former St. Leo’s Catholic Church, 2748 Military Road, Town of Niagara, now part of St. Vincent de Paul parish.

The award is the Deus, Domus et Patria (God, Home and Country) award, to be presented by Judith Nolan Powell, the high school board chairwoman, and principal Ronald K. Buggs.

On May 9, the university, the high school and the Diocese of Buffalo signed an agreement setting up several collaborations, including a hospitality and tourism academy at Niagara Catholic. The school’s students also will be able to take Niagara University courses while still in high school.
