LOCKPORT – Zachary J. Lowman, a Level 1 sex offender who fled the area in 2012 and endedg up serving an 18-month federal prison sentence in Tennessee for interstate flight by a sex offender, was sentenced Wednesday to a year in Niagara County Jail for violating the terms of probation.
Besides absconding, Lowman, 24, of Niagara Falls, had his 17-year-old female cousin hiding in his attic when a probation officer visited him early in 2012. Lowman said during a previous court appearance that the girl was a runaway from Wyndham Lawn Home for Children. Lowman was not supposed to have contact with anyone younger than 18.
His original crime was attempted second-degree rape for sex with a 14-year-old girl, whom he plied with synthetic marijuana in November 2011. County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas handled the case.
