NIAGARA FALLS – A Niagara Falls man finds himself facing a long list of new charges after he tried to crawl out a bathroom window to evade a bench warrant Thursday morning. Instead of escaping he crawled out the window into the hands of New York State Police troopers who had anticipated his attempt to flee.

Carl J. Wollaber, 44, was charged by state police with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child for attempting to flee in front of his two children who witnessed the crime, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. He was issued appearance tickets on the additional charges and then taken to the Buffalo Police Department to be locked up on the original bench warrant.

Troopers and investigators said when they arrived to arrest Wollaber at 8:30 a.m. Thursday they began interviewing family members, but became suspicious when they felt as if things were taking too long. Police decided to check the perimeter and spotted the suspect attempting to crawl out of the first-floor bathroom window and quickly took him into custody.
