A 23-year-old woman died from injuries in a hit-and-run incident in the 7200 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard late Monday night, Niagara Falls police said.
Ebony Austin, of Niagara Falls, had been walking home from her job at the Four Points by Sheraton on Buffalo Avenue when a westbound vehicle struck her at about 11:30 p.m. and fled the scene, according to Traffic Capt. Angela Munn.
Austin was taken to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, where she died.
Austin was the mother of three little girls, according to Munn.
Four Points General Manager Deanna DiFilippo said Austin had worked for them for about two years in housekeeping and was a night lobby attendant.
“She was very passionate about her job. She always wore a smile on her face and was very upbeat and as a worker she was extremely reliable,” said DiFilippo. “We were very fortunate to have her as a part of our family here. She will obviously be missed dearly.”
After the incident, that section of the boulevard was closed for four hours as police collected evidence.
Police are still searching for the driver. Witnesses are urged to call police at 286-4563 or 286-4711.
“If you saw anything or have any suspicions, or if you see a car with damage consistent with a pedestrian accident, please call us,” said Munn.
